Unique Father’s Day Gifts in Adelaide: The Leather & Barware Edit

Tan leather watch box on a timber sideboard with a decanter and whisky glass, unique Father's Day gifts in Adelaide

The hard part of finding unique Father’s Day gifts in Adelaide is not the shopping. It is that the man you are buying for has already bought himself everything he actually wanted, and will tell you, with total sincerity, not to go to any trouble. This year the answer is not another gadget. It is one good object he would never have thought to buy: saddle-stitched leather, cut glass, brass fittings. Things that get better with handling rather than obsolete with it.

Father’s Day falls on Sunday 6 September 2026. Below is a selection from the range, grouped by the kind of man you are buying for. Everything here was in stock and available to order at the time of writing.

For his desk, his dresser, his everyday

This is the category that works on the man who insists he needs nothing, because it replaces something he already uses badly. The dish by the door holding his watch. The drawer with the passports in it.

Leather Watch Boxes

The Leather 5 Watch Box in Tan holds five watches in a soft velour interior, in premium tan leather with saddle stitching. If four is closer to the mark, the same box comes as the 4 Watch Box in Tan with a brass clasp and the 4 Watch Box in Dark Brown. Brass hardware and velour lining throughout.

Document and Keepsake Boxes

The Tan Leather Document Box is premium tan leather with saddle stitching and a nickel brass clasp, sized for the paperwork that currently lives loose in a drawer. For something with more texture, the Croc Embossed Document Box carries a crocodile emboss across the same footprint, and the Grey Cowhide Document Box is handcrafted from premium grey cowhide with a nickel silver clasp.

Smaller Pieces

The Choc Brown Leather Box is a bespoke premium-grade leather box in a rich chocolate finish, saddle stitched, with a soft velour lining. The Celeste Leather Journal is handcrafted with hand-pressed detailing, brass clasps and natural cotton paper, which suits the father who still thinks on paper.

For the one who pours

If his idea of a good evening involves a decent bottle and no rush, this is the section.

Hip Flasks

The 6oz Hip Flask in Tan Leather is stainless steel wrapped in bespoke leather with fine saddle stitching, and it comes in black and blue as well. Pocket sized, and made to be used rather than displayed.

Wine Chillers and Coolers

The Leather Wine Chiller in Tan is a stainless steel chiller in a saddle-stitched leather sleeve. The Leather and Stainless Steel Wine Cooler with brass trim is a heavier take on the same idea, and to our eye it earns its place on a sideboard even when it is empty.

Decanters

The Vinus Prism Decanter is hand-crafted lead-free crystal, built to aerate both 750ml and magnum bottles. The Round Decanter in Emerald Green Cut Glass is hand-cut, with a crystal faceted stopper and a nickel silver collar, and it holds the light.

If you are going bigger this year

Milestone birthdays, retirements, or a father you want to go bigger for.

Leather Bar Cabinets

The Paramount Tan Leather Bar Cabinet is a two-door cabinet wrapped in tan leather with a wine rack, shelving and storage inside. The brown leather version is the same design in a darker hide. Both are wrapped in hide, and natural hide varies in grain and colour from piece to piece.

Bar Carts, Chairs and Games

The Royce Bar Cart in Oak has fluted detailing and brass cast wheels. The Blake Leather Directors Chair pairs black leather with mahogany and silver hardware. And for the study, the XXL Chess Set in solid mahogany runs 79cm across, which settles the question of whether anyone will notice it.

How to tell good leather from ordinary leather

The leather boxes, flasks and coolers above share one detail worth knowing about: saddle stitching. It is sewn with two needles and one thread, the thread passing through each hole from both sides, so a break is less likely to let the whole seam unravel. Machine stitching is faster and cheaper, and a break in it can let the seam work loose along its length. It is the reason saddlery and equestrian leather has been made this way for a very long time.

The other tells are inside. A velour lining rather than flocked card. Hardware with some weight to it. Cowhide with the grain still legible on the surface, rather than a heavily corrected and coated finish. How a piece is put together matters more than how it photographs, which is the honest argument for coming in and picking it up.

If the man in question is more of an entertainer than a collector, our guide to bar carts and champagne buckets covers the carts and coolers in more depth, and the barware gift guide goes wider on glassware and buckets.

Father’s Day questions we get asked

What do I buy for a father who says he does not want anything?

Replace something he uses daily and does not think about. The watch that lives in a saucer, the passports in a kitchen drawer, the bottle opener that came free with something. A leather watch box or document box tends to land well, because it is the sort of thing most people would not think to buy for themselves.

When is Father’s Day 2026, and when should I order by?

Father’s Day in Australia is Sunday 6 September 2026. We would suggest ordering early, because delivery times depend on the carrier and cannot be guaranteed. Flat-rate shipping applies, and the charge is shown at checkout. If you are in Adelaide, the surest option is to order online and choose Click and Collect from our Norwood showroom, or simply come in. For larger furniture, call us on (08) 8363 7109 before you order and we will talk you through the options.

Is leather actually practical, or does it wear badly?

Leather changes with use. It darkens, softens and takes on the marks of being handled, which is much of the appeal. Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators, wipe it with a dry cloth, and follow the care instructions supplied with the piece, testing any conditioner on an inconspicuous area first. Saddle stitching helps, because a broken stitch is less likely to loosen the whole seam.

What is saddle stitching?

Two needles and one thread, worked so each stitch locks on both sides of the leather. One damaged stitch is less likely to take the rest of the seam with it. Machine stitching runs two continuous threads instead, so a break can let a seam work loose along its length.

Can I pay with Afterpay?
